How do I export my ChatGPT history?
In ChatGPT open Settings → Data controls → Export data. You'll get an email with a .zip; drop that zip (or the conversations.json inside it) here.
How do I export my Claude conversations?
In Claude open Settings → Privacy → Export data. The download contains a conversations.json file you can drop here, zipped or not.
Is my chat history uploaded?
No. The zip is unpacked and parsed in your browser. There is no server component, and closing the tab discards everything.
What happens with edited or regenerated ChatGPT messages?
ChatGPT stores every branch. The converter follows the branch that was active when you exported (the current_node), which is the version you last saw.
What is the JSONL export for?
Each line is {"messages": [...]} with user and assistant turns, the format used for fine-tuning and many evaluation tools. Check it with the JSONL validator before using it.
